Precision Vision 2-Metre ETDRS LogMAR Chart (Chart 1 Revised)
The Precision Vision 2-Metre ETDRS LogMAR Chart (Chart 1 Revised) is a quality eye-test chart designed to assess and measure near-distance visual acuity. This revised chart has a different letter arrangement to the unrevised chart 1 model, helping to prevent patients from memorising charts and skewing their assessment results.
What's Included?
What Is the Function of This Revised LogMAR Chart?
A logMAR / ETDRS chart is a standardised test type used for assessing visual acuity. The test consists if fourteen lines of 5 Sloan optotype letters that decrease in size further down the chart. This particular chart model is designed for acuity testing at near distances, allowing opticians to assess and measure a patients 'near vision'.
What Does the Chart Being Revised Mean?
There is a slight change in the difficulty score for each of the Sloan letters in revised ETDRS charts. These revised scores derive from the visual acuity examinations of the 7420 eyes during the ETDRS study in which this specific type of logMAR chart was developed.
These revisions also involved the arrangement of the letters being changed to prevent patients from memorising and guessing the order of letters. Revised logMAR charts, including this model, are not suitable for use in studies sponsored by the American National Eye Institute.
