Transfer chairs have smaller wheels and are designed to be pushed from behind rather than controlled by the user. A commode chair is a chair which can also be used as a toilet, and can either be stationary or moveable.

The chair reduces the time and effort needed for seat-to-seat transfers, allowing quicker and easier access to a commode for those who need it.
As this chair cannot be manoeuvred by the user, it is not suitable for use as a wheelchair or an independently controlled mobility aid.
How Should I Clean The Transfer and Commode Chair?
It is important to keep on top of the hygiene maintenance of the Alerta ALT-1200 Chair, especially if the commode function is utilised. To clean the PVC seating and back, simply wipe them with a clean cloth and gentle detergent. For a full clean, including a thorough wash of the commode, follow these instructions:
- First, remove the black PVC cushion. Then, remove the grey bucket from the seat and bucket frame.
- Thoroughly clean the commode with warm water and detergent.
- Let the bucket air dry in a clean environment. Ensure it is fully dry before placing it back in the frame.
If you need to clean the seat and bucket frame, you can remove it by grasping the back of the seat and lifting. To reattach it, simply align the seat clamps onto the back frame rail and push until they snap into place.
