Essential First Aid Kit Supplies Refills 2024

15 January 2024

If you work in a school or busy factory then you can expect to get through the contents in your first aid kit pretty quickly. It's essential that you keep on top of this, because a few missing bandages, plasters or eyewash canisters could prevent someone from getting the urgent help that they require. Additionally, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) would soon be breathing down your neck.

Keeping Your First Aid Kit Full Protects Employees
Keeping a full first aid kit protects employees and keeps you above the law

We have a wide range of first aid kit equipment, including first aid kits, first aid kit refills, bandages, plasters and more. Whether you want an entire first aid kit refill, or to stock up on supplies, we've got you covered. This article shows you where to find everything that you need, from plasters and dressings to antiseptic cream and scissors, and we can help you refill your first aid kit!

Why Is it Important to Refill My First Aid Kit?

Health and Safety

The NHS recommend that in your first aid kit you should keep plasters, gauze dressings, eye dressings, bandages, safety pins, sterile gloves, tweezers and more. The full list includes everything from distilled water to skin rash cream, so we recommend that you are fully on the ball when it comes to stocking your first aid kit. Missing any of these items could prove crucial to your response in the event of an accident.

If you are out of eye wash and an employee gets a chemical in their eye, then you are risking their sight. Alternatively, if a child at school cuts their knee, if you don't have plasters or a bandage it could become infected. If you do work in a school or factory, then keeping track of the contents of your first aid kit is crucial.

The Law

The second most important reason is the law. According to the HSE, it is an employer's duty to ensure that an injured or ill employee gets immediate help. A workplace, school or public building must have the following:

  • A "suitably stocked first aid kit"
  • An appointed person or people to take charge of first aid arrangements
  • Information for all employees telling them about first aid arrangements

Failure to this can result in a fine, a prosecution and time spent in prison. Remember, this includes keeping your first aid kit refilled, as simply having a first aid kit is not quite enough.
