Evac+Chair 600H MK5 Ascending and Descending Evacuation Chair for Stairs

Featuring front and rear grab handles that allow for a two to four people operation, the Evac+Chair 600H MK5 Ascending and Descending Evacuation Chair for Stairs allows for a safe emergency evacuation up and down the stairs. Lending an extra hand for safety, the chair also features a unique friction belt system that controls the smoothness and speed of the descent.

What's Included?

  • 1 x Evacuation chair
  • 1 x Set of wall mounting hooks
  • 1 x Dust cover
  • 1 x User manual

Key Information

  • Stairs Ascent/Descent Capability: Ascent and descent (ascent recommended for small flights of stairs only)
  • Number of Operators: Two to Four (only one for stair descents)
  • Maximum Weight Capacity: 182kg

Why Choose the Evac+Chair 600H MK5 Stairway Evacuation Chair?

This chair is lightweight enough to be used by one person in a simple stair descent evacuation, but is primarily recommended for more difficult evacuations that require lifting over small obstacles, such as:

  • Raised thresholds
  • Uneven ground such as cobblestones
  • Small stair flights

By incorporating additional carry handles at the front of the chair, it allows the chair to be lifted upwards in addition to normal stairs descents. The added versatility makes it ideal for older buildings, and any area where the wheels and track will not be able to move smoothly throughout the entire evacuation.

What If I Don't Require Any Lifting or Stair Ascent?

If your evacuation will not require any lifting over obstacles or ascent of stairs, the Evac+Chair 300H Evacuation Chair may be a more suitable choice.

Key Features

  • Versatile evacuation chair that can be lifted over obstacles and up small sets of stairs
  • Foldable grab handles with non-slip grips for secure handling during all evacuations
  • Lightweight design for simple evacuations down stairs
  • Designed for operation by two to four people when lifted
  • Can be operated by a single person for simple descents
  • Friction belt secures against stairs (28° to 40° angle) for smooth downwards movement
  • Contoured headrest with integrated safety strap to provide stability to occupant
  • Redesigned hammock and sewn-in safety belt for comfort and security
  • Upgraded 500mm castor wheels provide reliable movement on ground
  • Redesigned kickstand for stability in a resting position

Where Can the Evac+Chair Be Used?

The Evac+Chair 600H Evacuation Chair can be used across a wide range of places, especially where people gather. It can ensure that people with mobility impairment can quickly evacuate a building in case of an emergency. Suitable places include:

  • Schools
  • Universities
  • Colleges
  • Offices
  • Public centres
  • Leisure centres
  • Shopping centres
  • Older buildings
  • Stone or cobblestone areas

How Do I Use the Evac+Chair 600H for an Ascent?

For ascent or lifting over obstacles, two to four operators are required. Unfold the front and rear grab handles, and keep a secure grip on the handles for a smooth and confident lifting motion. Follow the included user guide for step-by-step operation instructions.

How Do I Use the Evac+Chair MK5 Evacuation Chair?

One person can easily operate this chair to evacuate a single patient (up 182kg in weight) down stairs. Secure the patient using the two straps, and keep a firm hold of the double hand grip at the rear of the chair. Tilt the chair back, and push confidently until the friction track is making contact with the two top stairs. Then, the braking friction track will make contact with each successive stair, slowing the descent of the chair to prevent the need for excessive force to be used by the operator.

Unique Friction Belt for Smooth Descent

The friction belt system separates this chair from other lightweight single-user chairs, as it actually provides a constant braking mechanism that will guide the chair down stairs for a smooth traversal. Providing the operator maintains a constant angle, it will remain in contact with the stairs as you move, helping to compensate for those with less strength than others. This allows the user to guide the direction of the chair, rather than having to hold the entire weight at any point.

Versatile Adaptability for Most Evacuation Types

The Evac+Chair 600H MK5 Evacuation Chair with Lifting Handles is designed to be used in situations where access may otherwise be difficult. This is due to the two carrying handles that can be retracted at both the front and the rear of the chair. The additional handles mean that between 2 and 4 people are needed to operate the chair, but allows it to be carried over obstacles, and makes it suitable for upwards evacuation.

Wall Mounting Capability for Compact Storage

The chair is lightweight and foldable, allowing it to pack away into a compact size for use in high-traffic areas. Wall mounting brackets and a dust-cover are provided with the chair, so it is easy to store safely out of the way when not in use.

Designed for Visibility and Safety

The chair is designed in bright, contrasting colours of yellow and blue, ensuring it is easily noticed. It is best kept in a central location in your premises so that it can be quickly retrieved in the event of an emergency.
