What's Included?
- 1 x Foam Collar
- 1 x Set of User Instructions
Which Size Foam Collar Should I Choose?
The Standard Foam Collar is available in five different sizes. To find the correct one for you, please follow the instructions below:
- Using a flat tape measure, measure the circumference of your neck across the "Adam's apple" area
- Add two inches (5cm) onto this measurement
- Select the collar length for you. For example, if your neck measures 16", select a size Medium.
Size | Collar Length |
---|
Extra Small | 38cm (15") |
Small | 43cm (17") |
Medium | 46cm (18") |
Large | 51cm (20") |
Extra Large | 56cm (22") |
XX-Large | 61cm (24") |
Why Am I Adding Two Inches to My Measurement?
If your neck has a circumference of 16", the correct size Standard Neck Collar for you would be a medium. Two inches is the necessary room required to fit the collar around your neck without restricting airflow or causing circulatory issues.
What If My Measurement Falls Between Sizes?
If you are close to a sizing boundary, selecting the smaller option could restrict breathing. If your measurement falls between sizes (for example, if your neck measures 15.5") our product experts recommend selecting the larger size Cervical Collar for an optimum fit.
What Depth Option Is Best for Me?
To find the correct depth for you, straighten your head and measure the length between the edge of your chin and the top of your sternum as shown in the image below. If you are having trouble locating your sternum, follow your collar bones to the centre of your chest and measure from the point at which they meet.
This measurement should be taken "as the crow flies" from one point to the other without running the tape measure down along the chin and neck.
Once you have your measurement, please select the correct option from the two options below:
Depth Measurement | Collar Depth |
---|
Up to 6.4cm | 6.4cm |
Between 6.5cm and 9cm | 9cm |
Over 9cm | N/A |
Different Depth Options
For more serious neck injuries such as whiplash or a herniated disc, we would recommend using the slightly thicker collar as this can provide more support to your neck while restricting movement a little further. The slightly thinner option is best suited to users who suffer from general neck pain, arthritis and other problems associated with ageing.
I'm Concerned About the Tightness of My Collar...
If you correctly follow the sizing information and guidance above, you will receive a brace that works and treats your condition correctly. If you are overly concerned about the tightness of your brace, we recommend selecting one size larger than your measurement instructs.
We do not recommend doing this however, as this can compromise the correct level of support required.
