Precision Vision 2.5-Metre ETDRS LogMAR Chart (Chart 3 Revised)
With the Precision Vision 2.5-Metre ETDRS LogMar Chart (Chart 3 Revised), optometrists and similar eyecare specialists can successfully evaluate the near-distance visual acuity levels of a range of patients. This popular test type features a revised design, which has a different letter arrangement and letter difficulty scoring than the original chart design. This handy chart is also great for use by vehicle licensing agencies.
What's Included?
What Is the Function of This Revised LogMAR Chart?
ETDRS tests, or logMAR tests, are designed to enable the assessment of a patient's clarity of vision, or visual acuity using lines of Sloan optotype which decrease in size further down the page. This test should be used at a 2.5 metre distance, enabling the evaluation of near-distance visual acuity.
What Does the Chart Being Revised Mean?
For the revised chart, there is a change in the difficulty score for each of the Sloan letters. These revised scores stem from the visual acuity examinations of 7420 eyes during the ETDRS study in which this specific type of logMAR chart was developed.
These revisions also involved the arrangement of the letters being changed to prevent patients from memorising and guessing the order of letters. Revised logMAR charts, including this model, are not suitable for use in studies sponsored by the American National Eye Institute.
