Key Features and Benefits

  • Made with lightweight polycarbonate to treat and prevent pressure sores
  • Materials provide a spring on the up step to support a more natural gait
  • Extremely easy to apply and remove for improved compliance
  • Line is treated to wick away moisture and prevent bacterial build-up
  • Clear polycarbonate frame allows heel to be monitored without removing the orthosis

Which Conditions Is This Support Designed For?

The Ankle-Foot Orthosis is effective for the following conditions:

  • Drop foot/drag foot
  • Flaccid foot drop after neurological impairment
  • Moderate spastic equinus foot
  • Weak ankles

What Is Foot Drop?

One of the most severe problems of immobility is a plantar flexion contracture (commonly known as foot drop), due to shortening of the Achilles tendon, as the foot is allowed to fall and remain in plantar flexion. The resultant decrease in range of motion (ROM) of the ankle impairs gait, increasing the risk of falls.

What is An Ankle-Foot Orthosis Used For?

Ankle-foot orthosis (AFO) is a commonly used orthosis in patients having weakness in the ankle dorsiflexor or plantar flexor muscles due to several disorders such as stroke, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, and peripheral nerve injury. They can be worn for a number of feet-related issues including controlling alignment, increasing mobility and independence, assisting rehabilitation and/or to reduce pain, and preventing foot deformity.

Does My Leg Circumference Matter?

No, the Ankle-Foot Orthosis features a strap design that allows for easy adjustment. Due to this fact, it should be suitable for most users.

How Durable Is The Ankle-Foot Orthosis?

Made from quality polycarbonate, the Ankle-Foot Orthosis provides a good deal of rigidity and strength while still retaining the 'spring' needed to provide a comfortable and natural gait.

Suitable For Extended Wearing

The Lightweight Polycarbonate AFO Ankle-Foot Orthosis has a padded anti-rotation bar for positioning and prevention of lateral/medial hip rotation, the wide design of the frame also provides lateral ankle protection if patients roll onto their side during sleep and also has an adjustable toe rest and removable anti-slip sole unit

Easy To Monitor

The Ankle-Foot Orthosis is made with a clear polycarbonate frame allowing the heel to be monitored without the need to remove the orthosis.

Keeps Feet Hygienic

The liner is treated to wick away moisture and provide a drier cleaner environment thus reducing the risk of bacterial build up and improving patient compliance.
