When Do You Need a Hyperextension Brace?
Hyperextension injuries happen when a joint is forced to move beyond its normal range of motion. These injuries can occur in many parts of your body, although your knees, ankles, elbows, shoulders, neck, and fingers are most susceptible. Minor hyperextension injuries can usually heal with self-care measures. In some cases, you need external pressure and support for them to heal and align.
What Does a Hyperextension Brace Do?
The Cash Hyperextension Brace exerts pressure to keep the spine in an extended position. It is primarily used to treat spinal compression fractures that occur where the upper back meets the lower back, putting pressure and support on the thoracic spine.
Can a Spinal Fracture Heal On its Own?
A hyperextension brace provides support and compression to accelerate healing. While a spinal compression fracture can heal on its own, it can take up to three months with consistent rest. If a patient moves too much during this long recovery period, the pain may persist as the healing process grinds to a halt. An untreated fracture can also lead to height loss and a hunched back.
