Sizing Information for the Head Protex Epilepsy Helmet

The Soft Shell Helmet is available in eight different sizes. To find out which size you require, please measure the circumference of your head and choose the correct size from the dropdown menu at the top of the page.

Please note that the margin between sizes is quite narrow, so it's important to take your time and get the right size.

To find your correct size, please follow these instructions:

  1. Place the end of the tape measure at the centre of the forehead
  2. Wrap the measure around the entirety of the head using the image below as a positioning guide
  3. Match your measurement to the correct size in the second column of the table below
  4. Use this measurement to select the correct size helmet from the dropdown menu above

  • Take the measurement a few times to ensure your reading is correct

How Should a Correctly Fitted Padded Seizure Helmet Feel?

When correctly fitted, the Padded Seizure Helmet should fit snugly against the head, providing a cushioned barrier between the users head and any surfaces they may come in contact with. The Protex Helmet is designed to fit close to the head, as a snug and compact fit is necessary to prevent injury in the event of a slip or fall during a seizure.

Will the Fabric Relax Over Time?

Yes, the fabric and tension in the helmet itself will relax periodically over time. This means that if at first your helmet appears tight at first, it will relax once it has been worn a few times and the fabric begins to relax.

Designed to Form a Snug Barrier

Our sizing chart above ensures that when your head is correctly measured, you will receive a helmet that fits this circumference perfectly.

How Does the HeadProtex Helmet Chin Strap Fasten?

The fastening on the Protex HeadProtex Helmet uses quick-release adjustable childproof clips to ensure the helmet stays in place at all times. This fastening can be adjusted easily to maximise comfort both at the chin and in the way the helmet feels overall.

Great head protection
25 October 2024  |  Bella

We bought this for a client whose epilepsy has been worsening. Already it has proven its worth several times by perfectly cushioning his head when having seizures. He was reluctant to get a hat as he's had to wear them in the past and received not very nice comments from people about it, however this one is not as conspicuous as others and he really likes the colour, so is happy to wear it when out and about. We're going to buy another so he can wear one whilst the other is being cleaned.

Unlikely Success
18 April 2023  |  Brian

It had been recommended to me that I return the item unopened. It was for my partner of 25 years who has Alzheimers and was falling over at her nursing home.

The doctor felt it would be unwearable and make her a subject of attention from other residents.

When the box arrived I thought it felt too light and not worth the money.

I was completely wrong.

This helmet is very wearable due to its light weight, pink colour is very attractive to all who see it or hear about it ( the paramedics who attended previous falls
and me who is now able to go home each day knowing she is as safe as can be)

That is worth more than any money.

Thank You

A detailed size chart with the sizes in centimetres (head circumference) would ease selecting the correct size of the gear. Thank you.

Saved my son's life

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My son has autism and head bangs it became so worrying I felt he would cause himself serious harm. This helmet has protected him and his head from serious injury. He's so comfortable wearing it it has become a safety blanket for us all. My son actually asks for it to be put on first thing.
I'd definitely recommend this to any parent struggling with the heartache of child head banging.
