What Does this Pressure Relief Boot Do?
The Parafricta Slip On Bootee protects against pressure ulcers (including bedsores) caused by friction and associated shear, particularly in the heel area. It also provides non-stop protection to other vulnerable areas of the foot and ankle.
Who Can Use the Parafricta Slip On Bootee?
Pressure ulcers can develop on the feet of individuals who spend a lot of time in bed, such as bedbound patients or elderly individuals with limited mobility. Pressure boots can prevent the red, hot, sore or blistered heels that are usually a result of rubbing or dragging on the bed.

This hospital bootee is available in five different sizes, ranging from Extra Small to Extra Large. Select a size based on shoe size or the measurement from the back of your heel to the tip of your big toe.

When Should I Use a Pressure Boot?
There are many situations in which you should consider use for yourself or your patient, including the following:
- When there are early signs of skin breakdown (e.g. non-blanching erythema, abrasions or high sub-epidermal moisture)
- When patients are difficult to reposition without dragging their heels on the support surface
- When patients frequently use their heels to push themselves up the bed
- When patients' conditions result in chronic repetitive movements or restlessness
- When the dressing over an existing pressure ulcer is frequently displaced
- When there is a particular cause of very high risk (e.g. in diabetics or at end of life)
Does the Parafricta Slip On Boot Really Work?
There is a body of published clinical evidence to ensure the efficacy of Parafricta bootees. For instance, an article from the British Journal of Nursing found that, over two weeks and in three care settings, Parafricta low-friction bootees played a vital part in the reduction of heel ulcers, prevented pain and increased comfort.
Can I Wear the Slip On Pressure-Relieving Bootee with Wound Dressings?
This pressure relief boot can be worn with even bulky wound dressings. In fact, it can actually be beneficial, helping to prevent wound dressings on the foot from rucking up.

Can I Wash the Parafricta Boot?
This boot is machine washable in a light load on a hot (60°C) synthetic cycle. In a professional laundry the bootees may be washed on a setting that includes 70°C for 10 minutes (sanitising cycle). Heavily soiled items may be pre-soaked in a proprietary oxidising stain remover (not domestic/chlorine bleach). Line (air) dry.
