Wellell Verso Alternating Pressure Relief Air Mattress Overlay
Alternating pressure relief mattresses are the best pressure care solution for bed-bound patients, as they constantly shift the pressure around a patient's body to avoid high pressure zones. The Wellell Verso Alternating Pressure Relief Air Mattress Overlay includes a series of 5" air cells to provide pressure relief, and is designed to be used on top of an existing mattress to provide relief to patients at medium to high pressure sore risk.
Please note: During a transitional period, Wellell mattresses may bear Apex branding.

Who Can Use the Wellell Verso Mattress?
This mattress is designed for patients with low mobility who are deemed to be at medium to high risk of pressure sore development. For patients at very high risk of pressure sore development, we recommend the use of a full mattress replacement system such as the Apex Pro-Care Auto Mattress System, which does not require the use of an underlying mattress as this overlay does.
How Does this Mattress Overlay Relieve Pressure?
The 5" air cells of this overlay system will inflate and deflate with air pressure from the included pump, helping to periodically relieve pressure on different sections of the patient's body. As the pressure is constantly being shifted, no one area of the patient's skin will experience a high amount of pressure for a prolonged time.
Pressure Distribution Mapping
The graphic below shows the even distribution of pressure along the patient's body when lying on the Wellell Verso Overlay Mattress. The graph shows that pressure in mmHg stays far below 32 mmHg, an industry standard for effective pressure relief for bed-bound patients.
Dual Pressure Therapy Modes
This mattress overlay allows for adaptation between static and dynamic therapy modes to facilitate care:
- Static: Air cells will maintain constant pressure to stabilise the patient for transfers and nursing procedures
- Dynamic: Air cells will provide alternating pressure to ensure the avoidance of high pressure zones on skin
Quick Connector for Easy Transport
The mattress overlay connects to the included pump using a quick connector, allowing for easy connection and disconnection whenever necessary. The connector includes an attached transport cap, allowing air to be trapped in air cells to provide a stable transportation surface for up to 8 hours at a time.
How Durable Are the Air Cells?
As this mattress may be depended on for the prevention of pressure sores, all components are designed for durability and reliability to REACH and RoHs standards. The air cells are built with tear-resistant nylon PU, and are durable enough for frequent use without degradation.
Designed for Safety
The Verso Pressure Relief Overlay has been built to comply with all relevant safety standards for use in care homes, hospitals and residential care environments. Safety features include:
- Flame Retardance: Compliant to fire safety standards BS 7175 Crib 5 & 7
- Low Pressure Alarm: An LED alert will be activated in the event of disconnections or leaks
- CPR Strap: Accessible yellow strap will deflate the mattress in the event of an emergency
Vapour-Permeable Cover
To enhance both infection control and patient comfort, the Wellell Verso Mattress Overlay is supplied with a vapour permeable, water resistant, four-way stretch cover. This cover protects the mattress while helping to reduce shear and friction forces on the patient, and is breathable to help maintain a healthy microclimate for the skin of the patient. The cover also features 10,000ppm chlorine resistance, allowing it to withstand chemical disinfection practices.
