What's Included?

This pack includes the following items:

Who Can Use this Pack?

This pack is suitably designed for children in need of relief from ankle injury related symptoms like pain, swelling and discomfort. Whether they've sprained or broken their ankle charging around the playground, rest assured cryotherapy is the best way to reduce swelling and bruising following an operation or injury.

The pack combines the features of the Cryo/Cuff and Cooler to provide targeted cold compression therapy straight to your child's injury. As such, this saver pack can be used to help treat the following:

  • Acute sprains
  • Post-operative support
  • Post-surgical swelling and pain
  • Rehabilitation
  • Fractures
  • Sporting injuries
  • Trauma

Key Features and Benefits

  • Combines the Paediatric Ankle Cryo/Cuff and Gravity Fed Cooler
  • Specifically designed for the anatomy of a child's ankle
  • Ergonomically adapted to fit smaller, child size ankles
  • Provides cold therapy and light compression to the ankle
  • Designed to deliver cryotherapy for up to eight hours
  • Incredible benefits for minimising bruising and swelling following an injury or operation
  • Cooler uses a gravity-fed system to operate
  • Unit is designed to be as easy to use as possible

How Will Cold Therapy Help My Child?

Cold therapy is used to improve blood flow and reduce swelling throughout patient recovery. The Paediatric Ankle Cryo/Cuff provides targeted pain relief without the use of painkillers for your child's ankle.

This makes it particularly useful if they've undergone surgery or suffered an injury to the area. Using cryotherapy can also quicken the healing process, enabling your child to get back on their feet as quickly as possible.

Can the Cuff Be Used on Either Ankle?

Yes, the cuff is interchangeable meaning that it can be used to treat injury to either of your child's ankles.

Detachable Cuff

The Aircast Paediatric Ankle Cryo/Cuff is simple to apply and easy to remove from the area whenever necessary. The wrap may also be detached from the cooler at any time so your child can remain mobile without interrupting the treatment offered by the unit.

Can I Use the Cuff to Treat Other Injuries?

The versatile design of this Cryo/Cuff allows it to be used to treat other injuries such as those to your child's elbow or knee.

What Size Cuff Should I Choose?

The Cryo/Cuff itself is supplied in one universal size that is designed for children between the ages between one and seven. This can be adjusted to suit your child's comfort by altering the tightness of the cuff straps.

How Do I Use the Cuff?

To prepare, administer and apply the cuff, follow these four simple steps below:

Step One: Prepare the Cooler

Connect the blue tube to the cooler and fill the cooler to the line with water. Add ice and place the insulation disk on top before closing the cooler shut. Allow up to five minutes for the water to cool before use.

Step Two: Apply the Cuff

Close the bottom flaps under your child's foot and place the foot inside with the heel against the back of the cuff. Wrap the foot cover around the foot and secure using the bottom strap. (See figure 1).

Next, wrap the ankle cover around the ankle and secure using the top strap.

Step Three: Fill the Cuff

Connect the blue tube to the cuff and open the air vent located on the cooler lid. Raise the cooler no more than 15 inches above the level of the cuff and allow up to 30 seconds for the cuff to fill. Close the air vent and press the metal tab to disconnect the cuff for independent use. (See figure 2).

Step Four: Rechill Water

Rechill the water 15 to 30 minutes after the first use and then every one hour following. To do this, reconnect the blue tube to the cuff and lower the cooler below the cuff. This will enable the water to drain from the cuff, back into the cooler. Allow up to two minutes for the water to rechill before refilling the cuff.

For more information about the cuff and how to use it, please see the manual below:

How Long Should I Use the Cuff for With Each Use?

You can use the cuff to treat your child's injury for up to two hours per use. It is recommended that you give a period of at least 20 minutes between each use to allow your child some time to rest and recover between treatments.

Protect the Skin

You must wrap the skin of the affected area with a bandage or cloth before using the Cryo/Cuff to treat your child's injury. This is to create a bridge between the cuff and your child to prevent risk of further injury such as skin burn.

How Do I Clean the Cuff and Cooler?

To clean the cuff and cooler between each use, simply wash with soap and water before rinsing and leaving to air dry.

Are Other Saver Packs Available?
