The Medical Devices Directive (MDD)-approved non-contact thermometer helps to improve hygiene by requiring to physical contact with the forehead, reducing the risk of contamination between patients or users.
What's Included?
Please note that the thermometer requires 3 x AAA batteries, which must be purchased separately.
Who Can Use the Infrared Non-Contact Thermometer?
One of the great things about the Marsden Non-Contact Thermometer is its versatility. As it is quick and easy to use, it is ideal for use both at home and in medical environments. Whether you wish to monitor your own temperature or that or a loved one, or if you work in a hospital or clinic and are looking for a more hygienic approach to recording multiple patients' temperatures, the Marsden thermometer is an ideal choice.
How Does the Marsden Non-Contact Thermometer Work?
The Marsden T-100 Non-Contact Thermometer is easy to use, providing accurate readings at a moment's notice. It requires no physical contact with the forehead; all you need to the following:
- Press the ON/OFF button
- Align the device with the centre of the forehead, keeping a distance of between 10mm to 30mm
- Press the ON/OFF button to take the reading
It really is as easy as that! The reading will display on the screen, accompanied by a long beep to indicate that the reading is ready.
What Can the T-100 Test the Temperature Of?
While the Marsden T-100 Infrared Thermometer is designed primarily as a forehead thermometer, it can be used to read temperatures in a range of situations. The T-100 may be used to measure the temperature of the following:
- Ambient temperature (using 'Ambient' mode)
- Babies' skin (not during/immediately after breastfeeding)
- Baby milk
- Bath water
- Forehead
- Object surfaces (using 'Object' mode)
What's the Benefit of a Non-Contact Thermometer?
Unlike traditional thermometers, which are designed to take measurements by directly touching the skin, a non-contact thermometer offers a more hygienic approach that doesn't require any physical contact with somebody who is potentially unwell and carrying a virus or germs. The T-100 Infrared Thermometer just needs to be pointed towards the forehead at a range of around 10mm to 30mm, allowing you to test readings of multiple individuals while significantly reducing the risk of cross-contamination or spreading bacteria.
What Is Considered a High Temperature?
As outlined on the NHS website, a body temperature of 38°C or more is considered to be high. However, if you suspect you may have a fever, even if the reading on the thermometer is below 38°C, it is recommended that you still get in touch with your doctor.
Can I Save Temperature Readings?
Absolutely! Up to 20 readings can be stored on the T-100 thermometer. This is particularly useful if you're testing the temperature of multiple patients within a short space of time, or if you wish to monitor your own temperature over a period of time to then present the data to your doctor.
How Is the T-100 Infrared Thermometer Powered?
The Marsden T-100 Infrared Thermometer is powered by 3 x AAA batteries (not included), which should provide around 300 readings before they need to be replaced. This battery operation means that you can carry the portable device with you for obtaining temperature readings on the go. The thermometer automatically shuts off after around one minute of inactivity, helping to preserve the battery life when it is not in use.
How Do I Clean the Marsden Thermometer?
The Marsden T-100 Thermometer can be wiped down with a soft, dry cloth. No abrasive cleaners must be used, and the device must never be submerged in water. It is recommended that the thermometer is stored in the box when it is not in use.
