What Is the Purpose of the Active Patient Hoist?
Patient hoists are effective lifting aids designed for safe transfers and repositioning of patients with reduced or impaired mobility. An active patient lift is generally used to help patients move between seated and standing positions, and will require some physical effort from the patient. The available sling attachment, sold separately, creates a seat for patients to use as they are gently lifted into a standing position.
Who Is This Convertible Lifting Aid For?
This lifting aid is ideal for use in both residential and clinical care environments, and comes complete with four ball-bearing swivel castors for easy transportation of patients.
Suitable uses for this lifting aid include assisting patients up to 210cm in height and 185kg in weight with reduced mobility from seated to standing positions. This hoist is ideal for use by patients who are being rehabilitated from injuries or illnesses which have impacted their mobility.
It is important to note that while set up as an active lifting aid, it is not recommended to use this hoist with patients whose mobility is severely impaired.
How Can This Active Lift Be Converted?
To transform this active patient lift into a universal hoist, you must have the Wellell SLK Multy Universal Lift Conversion Kit. You cannot use this unit as a passive lift without this kit. To convert the hoist, follow these instructions:
- Once you have the conversion kit, which includes a lifting arm and spreader bar, you can begin with the tool-free disassembly of the active hoist
- Remove the floorboard, the shin pad, and the active lifting arm
- Replace the active lifting arm with the universal lifting arm in the conversion kit
- Connect the spreader bar to the lifting arm
